Postgraduate
medical training is the remit of the Health Board, Sligo General
Hospital and the consultant trainers. In recent years, the Foundation has
supported the Postgraduate Medical Training Programme launched in the
hospital in January 2001.

Core
Skills Programme
A
core skills teaching programme for hospital doctors from all specialties was
pioneered by the Foundation in 1998/99. The course provides training in a
range of generic skills relevant to the professional development of doctors and
other disciplines. Currently, it is organised by the Postgraduate Training
Team.
Training
Report
The
Foundation carried out a study of the present training conditions and activities
in Sligo General Hospital in Feb.- April 2000. The report, which was financed by
the hospital, identified a deficit in the general approach to training in the
hospital and recommended a number of measures to improve the situation. Click
